MEET MRS. VERtrees
August 27th, 2015 Dear Students and Families, Welcome to the 2015/2016 school year with Mrs. Miller, Moser, and Vertrees! We are excited to hit the ground running into a motivating and successful year with you. I am more than thrilled to be working here, at Silver Springs, with the fourth grade team. I will be teaching math to all three homerooms and English Language Arts to my homeroom team. We, Mrs. Moser, Mrs. Miller, and I plan on synergizing together for Readers and Writers Workshop to ensure that the all students feel successful and show growth within the Common Core State Standards for all subjects including Reading, Writing, and Language Arts. A Little bit about myself. . . I, Mrs. Vertrees have been teaching for an accumulation of 9 years, the first in Walled Lake Consolidated Schools and the next 7 were in Farmington Hills. I have a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Cable Productions, as well as a minor in Journalism. I have three energetic and wonderful children, ages, 5, 3 and 2 as of October! My two boys, Joshua and Jacob, and girl, Evelyn, are constant reminders as to how influential and important adults and teachers roles are for students; in that, they shape the way children view the world and their place in it. I believe in keeping student experiences positive, motivating, and fun in order to best support students in becoming life-long learners who feel empowered with their desire to learn and grow each and every day. Within the classroom, I incorporate lots of movement, music, and laughter to make sure that learning is a celebration! To sharpen the saw and create a little balance between my career as a teacher and mother, I am also a marathon runner! These are skills I use and model for students to assist them in applying their own knowledge into real-life challenges and struggles. I cannot wait to meet you and look forward to seeing you at soon!
